Entry Description
Lacy gave me my legs back.
While in the military I lost a leg and acquired other physical limitations.
Lacy returns me to a world that I knew before going into service. She allows me a freedom I had lost for many years.
Growing up a mid-western country boy, the outdoors was a large part of life. Hills, hollows, hay season, fruit season and hunting "for the dinner table" were part of my life. After service these activities and others became a thing of fond memories.
With the aid of my loving wife(Kaki) and two unbelievable friends and horseman (Jo Nell and Steve) I have been able to return to a world that I thought had been lost forever.
At first,we had no idea what was needed in a horse or equipment. Information searches proved fruitless.
So,with a CAN-DO attitude Joe found a good horse and away we went. She further trained Lacy, found me a bear-trap saddle and enlisted the help of Steve and my wife. They also had to "train" me with some new cuing ideas, and a way to mount.
Getting in the saddle is an arduous task in itself.
Once there, with my wife and wonderful friends on horseback and by my side, I have been given back a freedom I so enjoyed. One of wandering the hills, hollows, fields and new places I've never been.
That is WHY I RIDE, and TRULY HAPPY when I ride.
